How We Do It.

Our resources are designed to empower communities to provide holistic support and healing for individuals facing loss.

Bereavement Resources

Through walking this path ourselves, and a comprehensive body of research, we’ve developed what we believe is the best stack of resources to empower communities to come alongside those who are mourning, and help them start living again.

Tools and Resources

A 1-1 model can only help a few people, and this is meant for the whole world. Toward that vision, we’ve developed a 1-many model that espouses everything we’ve learned and enables it to be distributed far and wide. We hope and believe this will make lasting impact. Our tools are geared towards anyone wanting to help within a moment's notice of loss,
without any required training in advance!

Inspirational Speaking

Our stories are powerful, and they help open eyes and hearts. We take on speaking engagements all across the US to tell our stories, spread the word about our mission, and help others understand their role in helping a friend through immense grief and loss.

"The Lord has been working in my life for the past few years in regards on trusting him with my whole life, not just some areas, but ALL of them.

Recently, one of my biggest fears was to become a widow and be a single mom of three little kids.

Some of the thoughts I have had in the last 2-3 years were: if my husband would’ve died today, what would I do? How would I take care of my kids? Who would I go to for support?

I was living in fear most of the time, I used to think I’d die if this would’ve happened.

But little did I know, God was at work and was preparing me to meet Ashley.

When I met Ashley and she told me about her non-profit, I learned about her story, I immediately felt peace and I felt like God was telling me: I got you!

God forbid I become a widow, but if I do, I know where to go now and I know for sure He will take care of me through Joy in the Mourning."

Recently a supporter of the ministry reached out to me. They had a friend from work who lost their spouse and was asking questions about how to help. I was able to give some direction over the phone and send an email with some practical help. We prayed over the phone and once we hung up they immediately took action. I received this text.

"I actually just went over to their place shortly after we talked. I am very glad I did. They were a mess [and alone]. I ended up taking them to the funeral home and helping with things through out the day. The rest of the family didn't show up until late in the afternoon so now they have lots of support at the house. Thank you for your guidance. I have often questioned God why he brought me here. This is confirmation why I am here."

"Joy in the Mourning and the step by step guide given to my family and I were such a HUGE blessing during an unexpected time of loss. We used the C.A.R.E kit & the tools in it as guide for solutions to many questions my family members had. It was so helpful with: what was next, who can we call, and a place to jot down notes as things move along during the process of losing a loved one. I hope that you find this as helpful as I did. A Thank you isn’t enough for how much Joy in the Mourning’s resources helped during our families most difficult time of need."
