"The Lord has been working in my life for the past few years in regards on trusting him with my whole life, not just some areas, but ALL of them.
Recently, one of my biggest fears was to become a widow and be a single mom of three little kids.
Some of the thoughts I have had in the last 2-3 years were: if my husband would’ve died today, what would I do? How would I take care of my kids? Who would I go to for support?
I was living in fear most of the time, I used to think I’d die if this would’ve happened.
But little did I know, God was at work and was preparing me to meet Ashley.
When I met Ashley and she told me about her non-profit, I learned about her story, I immediately felt peace and I felt like God was telling me: I got you!
God forbid I become a widow, but if I do, I know where to go now and I know for sure He will take care of me through Joy in the Mourning."

Recently a supporter of the ministry reached out to me. They had a friend from work who lost their spouse and was asking questions about how to help. I was able to give some direction over the phone and send an email with some practical help. We prayed over the phone and once we hung up they immediately took action. I received this text.
"I actually just went over to their place shortly after we talked. I am very glad I did. They were a mess [and alone]. I ended up taking them to the funeral home and helping with things through out the day. The rest of the family didn't show up until late in the afternoon so now they have lots of support at the house. Thank you for your guidance. I have often questioned God why he brought me here. This is confirmation why I am here."

“The C.A.R.E. kit equips you to be present for a mourner. It is not something to be handed over to the mourner. It is designed to give you tools as you come alongside a person in need. My favorite tool is the planner, filled with tips, checklists, and things to be considered. A person dealing with a loss often cannot think through the issues. Some simple yes/no questions help identify the mourner’s desires. No one should rush in, take charge, or make big decisions for the person, such as gathering and disposing of the deceased’s belongings. A QR code leads to a website for more information and to download an app. The box can be utilized as a temporary urn instead of a plain brown box often provided by a mortuary. If you do not know someone who has a recent loss, you soon will. Be ready to advocate for a friend, someone in your church, or your community. Obtain a box now before the need arises.”
